Geography, hydrology and geoecology
Complex programme of protection against erosion and proposal of measures for the increase of retention potential of the Slovak Republic territory in the division according to individual partial watersheds (so far the water courses of the Hron, Ipeľ, Slaná, Poprad-Dunajec, Bodrog, and Hornád rivers have been completed)
The task is focused on the assessment of retention and erosion-accumulation properties of the watershed based on the assessment of the properties and function of the landscape structure elements and their synergic effect. Another aim is to prepare a proposal of measures preventing erosion and measures for the increase of the retention potential of the territory.
The following partial issues have been tackled during the project
• spatial analysis of the landscape structure and the spatial database creation – creation of hydro-ecological complexes (complex landscape-ecological units which are homogeneous from the view of their hydrological response)
• hydrological modelling of precipitation runoff processes with the aim to determine value Q(t) [m3] on the measured, or calculated position of the surface stream depending on the amount of atmospheric precipitations Z(t) [in m3 or mm] and other meteorologically relevant conditions
• evaluation of retention properties of hydroecological complexes based on the properties of landscape structure elements and their synergic effect
• identification and quantitative assessment of erosion-accumulation processes in the watersheds with the use of erosion model
• evaluation of functions of individual elements of landscape structure and preparation of proposals of the measures to improve retention and erosion preventing properties of the assessed watershed.
Implementation period: 2003 – 2007
Creation of geological maps in the scale of 1:50 000 for the need of Integrated Landscape Management
The purpose carried out in the course of the project implementation is a detailed description of abiotic part of the primary landscape structure with direct use of the outcomes for the complex landscape ecological information basis on a uniform cartographic basic document for the entire territory of the Slovak Republic.
Our company participated at the solution of the following stages of the project:
• creation of the digital elevation model based on the hypsometric basis of the Basic Map in the scale of 1:10 000 and derivation of morphometric parameters
• adaptation of the digital geological map of the Slovak Republic in the scale of 1:50 000 to the topographic basis of the Basic Map in the scale of 1:10 000 of the Slovak Republic
• preparation of the digital map of abiocomplexes; bases for the abiocomplexes determination were quasi homogeneous units – morfographically-positional types of relief forms derived from the digital model of the relief; by a subsequent synthesis (superposition) of the data at the simultaneous use of the leading element (relief) method, the abiocomplexes were characterized by a set of parameters representing the georelief, soil, soil-forming substrate and geological bedrock features.
Implementation period: 2003 – 2007
Creation of a spatial database for the information system GIS-WATER
Within the project task a spatial database of the whole territory of Slovakia in the detail corresponding to the 1:10 000 scale was prepared for the needs of the Slovak Hydro Meteorological Institute, the SHMÚ. The following spatial structures with the extensive set of attributes were integrated into the database:
• the digital terrain model
• the stream network
• the watersheds
• the landscape structure of the watersheds.
Implementation period: 2005 – 2007

Local Territorial System of Ecological Stability for the needs of the Project of Land Adaptations and General Principles of Functional Organisation of the Territory in the Cadastral Territory Hody
The task of the project was to prepare the Local Territorial System of Ecological Stability the LTSES document and general principles of functional organisation of the cadastral territory Hody based on the complex landscape ecological assessment of abiotic, biotic and socio-economic elements of the landscape.
Stages of the project:
• analysis of the current landscape structure
• analysis of the primary landscape structure
• synthesis of positive elements
• synthesis of negative elements
• abiocomplexes
• representative potential geoecosystems
• proposals of the ecostabilisation measures and elements of the TSES
Implementation period: 2004 – 2005
Erosion-sedimentary processes in the watershed of the Water Reservoir Klenovec
The task was focused on the complex landscape-ecological and water management assessment of processes connected to sedimentation of the water-supply reservoir. The following issues were tackled:
• identification of sedimentation and pollution sources in the watershed of the water reservoir Klenovec with the aim to propose measures preventing erosion and measures for watershed retention increase
• assessment of the immediate vicinity of the water reservoir impacts on its sedimentation
• the reservoir volume determination, creation of the digital model of the reservoir bottom and the sedimentation rate assessment
• quantitative and qualitative assessment of sediments in the water reservoir (spatial distribution and chemical composition of sediments).
Implementation period: 2000 – 2002
